GBP-WAHSN: A Group-Based Protocol for Large Wireless Ad Hoc and Sensor Networks

  • Grouping nodes gives better performance to the wholenetwork by diminishing the average network delay and avoidingunnecessary message forwarding and additional overhead. Many routingprotocols for ad-hoc and sensor networks have been designed but none ofthem are based on groups. In this paper, we will start defininggroup-based topologies, and then we will show how somewireless ad hoc sensor networks (WAHSN) routing protocols perform when thenodes are arranged in groups. In our proposal connections betweengroups are established as a function of the proximity of the nodes andthe neighbor's available capacity (based on the node's energy). Wedescribe the architecture proposal, the messages that are needed forthe proper operation and its mathematical description. We have alsosimulated how much time is needed to propagate information betweengroups. Finally, we will show a comparison with other architectures.
