A Component-Based Software Configuration Management Model and Its Supporting System
-
Abstract
Software configuration management (SCM) is an important key technologyin software development. Component-based software development (CBSD) isan emerging paradigm in software development. However, to apply CBSDeffectively in real world practice, supporting SCM in CBSD needs to befurther investigated. In this paper, the objects that need tobe managed in CBSD is analyzed and a component-based SCM model ispresented. In thismodel, components, as the integral logical constituents in a system, aremanaged as the basic configuration items in SCM, and the relationshipsbetween/among components are defined and maintained. Based on thismodel, a configuration management system is implemented.
