改进泊松图象克隆以实现图象的自由编辑

Free Appearance-Editing with Improved Poisson Image Cloning

  • 摘要: 泊松图像克隆(Poisson image cloning)是重要的图像合成(image composition)技术,可实现两张拼合图象的无缝合成。其色彩渗透现象(color bleeding),虽然有助于无缝拼接,但有时会破坏原图象中的重要部分,不利于实践应用。对此,本文提出将编辑扩散(Edit propagation)引入到泊松图像克隆中,对泊松图像克隆技术进行改进,使得合成新图象时,既可以保证原始两幅图象无缝拼合,又可以使得原始图象中的重要部分不受色彩渗透的影响。进一步,我们可对原始图象中的重要部分进行色彩/色调等的自由编辑。该改进技术,提高了图象编辑的自由度和可控性,有利于图象编辑的实践应用。对于图形拼合时需要保持和编辑的图象部分,我们先让用户在其中勾勒几笔,就能根据勾勒的画笔所覆盖的像素,在图象中找到类似的像素区域。然后,对于这些区域施加一个约束,以保持这些区域中像素的颜色不变或者根据用户需求进行改变,即在关于泊松图像克隆中的能量函数中增加一些能量项,使得选定的内容能阻止图象拼合时的色彩渗透,并能根据用户需求进行色彩/色调等的自由编辑。构造这样一个新的能量函数后,我们就可以对其进行优化求解,以得到图象编辑的结果。该能量函数的最优化求解,也如泊松图像克隆技术中一样,是转化为一个稀疏的线性方程组进行的,其求解速度与泊松图像克隆技术相当。实验表明,相比于已有的图象合成技术——泊松图像克隆和图象贴膜技术(image matting),本文的改进技术能很好地实现图象的无缝拼合和内容的自由编辑,而它们却难以做到。

     

    Abstract: In this paper, we present a new edit tool for the user to conveniently preserve or freely edit the object appearance during seamless image composition. We observe that though Poisson image editing is effective for seamless image composition. Its color bleeding (the color of the target image is propagated into the source image) is not always desired in applications, and it provides no way to allow the user to edit the appearance of the source image. To make it more flexible and practical, we introduce new energy terms to control the appearance change, and integrate them into the Poisson image editing framework. The new energy function could still be realized using efficient sparse linear solvers, and the user can interactively refine the constraints. With the new tool, the user can enjoy not only seamless image composition, but also the flexibility to preserve or manipulate the appearance of the source image at the same time. This provides more potential for creating new images. Experimental results demonstrate the effectiveness of our new edit tool, with similar time cost to the original Poisson image editing.
